The Copper Island Podcast is finally live!
What started as a dream is not a reality - and in the first episode, I am sharing some background information about the who, what, and why behind the show.
Here are some of the highlights:
This show is brought to you by a Keweenaw Peninsula native
If you aren’t familiar with Michigan geography, the Keweenaw Peninsula juts out into Lake Superior and is located on its south shore
Copper Island is a fictional show that explores the daily lives of people living in the Keweenaw Peninsula of Michigan and its surrounding regions during the copper boom that occurred between 1843 and 1968.
Inspired by historical events from local newspapers, family lore, and academic studies, every story is researched extensively to create a real feel for the time period in which it takes place.
Many stories will be punctuated by the 1913 copper strike – a legendary event that still impacts the region today.
If you are interested in character-driven fiction, historical fiction, and a hidden gem in the Great Lakes State, this show might be for you!
